A 19th century Tibetan gilt bronze figure of green Tara, Avalokiteshvara, 'The great Compassion and Wisdom', seated in lalitasana, the right foot supported on a lotus stem projecting from the double-lotus base; the hands held in vitarkamudra, with lotus stem imprint; the figure wears a draped dhoti, beaded necklaces, armlets, large circular earrings and an elaborate tiara anchoring a high chignon; the face with arched eyebrows and downcast eyes. Lotus seal to base. Height 34 cm.
