An elaborate ivory group of figures on boat by Kyorui, Meiji period, 19th century the long deck partly covered with a canopy emanating from a dragon's head, with two oni clambering over the top, and three musicians dancing beneath it, with other figures including Hotai and an oni in lively activity on the prowl, the carved tusk finely carved, incised, inked and inlaid with mother-of-pearl, on a carved hardwood waves form stand, signed Kyorui in red to the stem, and further inscribed on a red lacquer tablet to the underside of the stand.
