A Victorian silver engraved circular salver, the central cartouche with winged crest framed by a wide band of entwined pentagonal floral motifs and repeating leaf scroll and floral bands. Raised on four scrolling feet. London 1874 by John Hunt & Robert Roskell. Dia.35.5 cm. 1360gms. Note: After his apprenticeship with Paul Storr, John Samuel Hunt joined as a partner in the firm as Storr retired in 1838, and the company changed its name to Mortimer & Hunt. Mortimer retired in 1843, and the firm became Hunt & Roskell, the addition of Robert Roskell Jr, a former watchmaker and merchant of Liverpool.
