A late Edo period Tanto, the blade in very good polish with itame hada, gunome midare temper. Unsigned and unshortened tang. Black lacquer scabbard, oval tsuba in soft metal with decoration including a flying crane highlighted in gold and copper. Handle fittings highlighted in gold and Japanese character mark. Menuki of horses, length 29.7 cm (blade).
