Silver cigar box with a hinged lid, an engraved monogram surmounted by a Coat of Arms, a divided gilt washed interior, hallmarked for St Petersburg, made by 'F. W.'. The coat of arms are possibly that of the Provincial Aland Islands in Finland. Russian soldiers were stationed on the island in 1918. Hearsay provenance claims the previous owner's Finnish family received the box as a gift from Russian soldiers
