Chamberlain Worcester vase by Humphrey Chamberlain, early 19th century, of ovoid form with twin gilt handles, each in the form of a shell beneath a classical dolphin with scrolling tail, decorated with large central reserve beautifully painted with the scene love Conquering Prudence after Angelica Kauffmann (1741-1807), surrounded by rich gilt neoclassical motifs on a salmon and white ground, raised on a square foot with gilt foliate border, Howard collection, Leonard Joel label to base, height 39 cm catalogue note: the Howard collection of ceramic Art, 1942, catalogue forward reads 'The late Mrs. A.J. Howard was a keen collector of the ?Old? as well as the ?Modern.? in this antique collection will be found fine and rare examples dating from Dr. Wall period Worcester to mid 19th century.?
