A very rare Chinese Sancai 'Peony' vase, Liao Dynasty (907-1125). The vase is heavily potted, the globular body tapering to a short straight foot, incised with large peony flowers highlighted in amber and green enamels borne on leafy meander reserved on beige ground, all under a green band of scrolling foliage tapering to a waisted neck and everted rim covered in amber glaze.
