Description:
A rare Lushan Phosphatic Splash-Decorated lobed ewer, Tang Dynasty, 9th century, the lobed ewer is with a ribbed handle surmounted by two knobs, the other side of the shoulder applied with a short spout, it is covered with a dark brown glaze highlighted by splashes of milky, pale blue and buff tone on the shoulder and on the interior of the flaring mouth. The Lushan ewer with lobed body is very rare, a similar ewer with a globular body and similar glaze effects, please see Christie's Hong Kong, 6/10/2015, lot 75.
