A George I table clock, John Rowe, London, circa 1720, the double fusee movement with anchor escapement (converted from a verge escapement) bell striking on the hour, the silvered Roman and Arabic numeral main dial with mock pendulum aperture and date within its matted centre beneath a strike / silent dial, all within foliate gilt relief spandrels in an ebonised bell-top glazed case of typical architectural design with glazed doors front and back, glazed sides, and with a brass swing handle to the top, the backplate engraved with a decorative design of a building amidst foliage, 50 cm high (with handle raised), 27 cm wide, 17 cm deep
