A Cizhou bowl and cover, Jin Dynasty, 12th-Early 13th century, it features dark brown paint over a white slip under a clear glaze adorned with a band of feathery leaves framed by lines. The glaze and slip stop just short of the foot ring, revealing the light grey stoneware body, which has turned a buff colour due to firing. The interior is also coated with slip and glaze. Its domed lid, with a flat top, is decorated similarly. With Japanese wood box, for a similar example: a Cizhou painted bowl and cover from the Lord Cunliffe collection.
