A large blue and white vase, the banquet of Guo Ziyi, Kangxi period, Qing Dynasty (1662-1722), this exceptionally rare and exquisitely decorated blue and white vase portrays a banquet celebrating Guo Ziyi (697–781), a distinguished general from the Tang dynasty (618–907) of China. Guo Ziyi was not only celebrated for his personal achievements but also revered for his long life—he lived to the age of 85. His family, including his children, also achieved significant success. Consequently, he epitomized Confucian ideals of loyalty and resilience, and in popular religion, he was venerated as a deity of prosperity and joy, height 57 cm
