Japanese army officers Shin-Gunto: 22¾' VG blade with a few very minor imperfections; silver patterned habaki; pierced iron tsuba with cherry blossoms & fish & gold outlines; iron fuchi with sea shells & mask with gold borders; ornate menuki & pommel; hilt bound with brass cotton binding over white same; complete with leather covered field scabbard with one hanging ring. Overall a very good example.
