Koto Katana: Shinogi tsukuri (ridge line & yokote); 70.8 cm blade, tang 23.5, curvature 1.5 cm, thickness 0.7 cm; acid-washed to bring out the hamon, no grain pattern discernible; bo-hi ni tsure-hi (wide & narrow groove full length both sides), the wide groove with kakudome (square end); gunome midare hamon (wavy, irregular temper pattern) with mimigata (ear-shaped) formations & tobiyaki ('islands' of temper); tang unsigned showing g.age with rust pitting; possibly Koto ca 1500. Koshirae: Blk scabbard & handle (leather binding) newly made; mismatched fuchi kashira, fuchi appears to be plain silvered brass decorated with a spear & fan (silver & gilt detail); remnants of blk housepaint or similar substance present, kashira is bronze with mythical bearded figure in clouds (gilt detail); iron Heianjo tsuba pierced with chrysanthemum design & having a border in brass inlay diaper pattern of manji (swastika) design (v.average cond); menuki are figures with gilt detail.
