Victorian dome top sea trunk used in the movie 'The Bounty', Victorian dome top sea trunk used in the movie 'The Bounty'. Provenance: Purchased from the dispersal sale of props used on the 1984 film the Bounty, directed by Roger Donaldson and starring Mel Gibson and Antony Hopkins. A replica of the Bounty was built in Whangarei costing $4m, filming took place in Gisborne, French Polynesia and England. Chest is lined with 1985 New Zealand Herald pages form the time of purchase and was previously owned by the Napier Theatre Company
