A French silver verriere by Jean-Baptiste-Claude Odiot, JBC Odiot, Paris, 1789-1809, of circular form, the rim with sixteen openwork anthemions on a scrolling border, the sides plain with two husk border masks, two cherubic figures astride lions and two astride a lioness, all above a narrow frieze of floral work to which are joined four winged busts on paw feet, two upswept loop handles with husk and anthemion junctions to body, 2435gms. Width 36 cm over handle a pair of verrieres of very similar form and decoration (though oval, not circular), the same maker and date sold at Sotheby's, Paris, 10 June 2004 for 112,800 Euros
