Description:
A rare Staffordshire pottery figure of Captain James Cook, English circa 1845, 19.5 cm high, 11 cm wide. Reference: Harding Book 1 Page 54, Fig, 115. The source of this figure is modelled after an engraving by W.Holl, the original painting by Nathaniel Dance R.A. now hangs in The National Maritime Museum, Greenwich. An example of this same figure is in the National Maritime Museum Sydney. Provenance: `H.J Quigley Antiques, Adelaide, South Australia 2003
