10ct tanzanite / .96ct diamond drop earrings in 14ct white gold. Consisting of two pear shape tanzanite's of estimated total weight 10cts, are surrounded and accented on top with sixty eight round brilliant and two baguette cut diamonds of estimated total weight .96cts, H - I colour, SI2 - I1 clarity. The earrings are 26 mm long. Finished weight 8.56 grams. Tanzanite was discovered in 1967 in the Merelani hills near mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. Tanzanite is only found in a small area of Tanzania, making it one of the rarest gemstones and highly prized, tanzanite is a variety of the mineral zoisite and owes its blue colour to the presence of vanadium, most tanzanite gemstones undergo heat treatment to enhance their colour, changing from brownish hues to the desired blue-violet shades, it is believed to promote spiritual healing, enhance intuition, and bring tranquillity.
