Handmade, 2.70ct tanzanite and diamond modern ring in 18ct white gold. New Zealand made. Consisting of one rectangular cut tanzanite, of reported weight 2.70ct, in a four claw setting, surrounded and accented on shank with thirty round brilliant cut diamonds of reported total weight .23cts, F colour, SI1 clarity. Ring size M. Finished weight 6.8 grams. Tanzanite was discovered in 1967 in the Merelani hills near mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. Tanzanite is only found in a small area of Tanzania, making it one of the rarest gemstones and highly prized, tanzanite is a variety of the mineral zoisite and owes its blue colour to the presence of vanadium most tanzanite gemstones undergo heat treatment to enhance their colour, changing from brownish hues to the desired blue-violet shades, it is believed to promote spiritual healing, enhance intuition, and bring tranquillity.
