An impressive 15.60ct tanzanite / 2.90ct diamond ring in platinum. This oval mixed cut tanzanite is set in a four claw setting, flanked and accented on shoulders with eighty four round brilliant cut diamonds of estimated total weight 2.90cts, F - H colour, VS - SI clarity. Ring size N. Tanzanite was discovered in 1967 in the Merelani hills near mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. Tanzanite is only found in a small area of Tanzania, making it one of the rarest gemstones and highly prized, tanzanite is a variety of the mineral zoisite and owes its blue colour to the presence of vanadium, most tanzanite gemstones undergo heat treatment to enhance their colour, changing from brownish hues to the desired blue-violet shades, it is believed to promote spiritual healing, enhance intuition, and bring tranquillity.
