A Japanese Buddhist figure of Fudo-Myo, Muromachi period, 16th century, carved from cypress and applied layers of linen and lacquer, the menacing figure of Fudo-Myo, one of the protectors of buddhist teachings, his right hand in position to be holding a sword, (missing), the other holding a noose (parts missing), with ferocious expression and eyes partially closed and robes draped around his shoulders and lap. With accompanying acrylic case. Buddha 41 cm high, the display case 64 cm high, 45 cm wide, 28 cm deep
