A large antique French bronze-cased mantel clock, 1880s, the case by Susse Freres, the movement by Japy Freres, eight day movement with bell strike. Of classical design in Louis XVI style, the blue and white enamel Roman numeral dial and bell striking movement set in a finely-cast case of a truncated column mounted with a large cassolette with removable cover, all on a shaped platform base and decorated with floral and foliate scrolls and swags and classical mouldings, in contrasting gilding, impressed Susse Freres mark to the back of the case. 57.5 cm high, 49 cm wide, 25 cm deep
