The 1965 Finals Series: First Semi-Final (Essendon defeats Geelong); Second Semi-Final (St. Kilda defeats Collingwood by 1 point); the Preliminary Final (Essendon defeats Collingwood by 55 points) and the Grand Final (Essendon defeats St. Kilda by 35 points). This was Essendon's 12th Premiership. It was St. Kilda's first appearance in a Grand Final since 1913. Ian Stewart of St. Kilda won the Brownlow.
