A December 22nd 1888 letter written in Maori with translation, the dated letter apparently translates: 'December 22, 1889, Dear Anawha it has been some time. You made some bricks of sand and dropped them at my house for C Kiddie the bricklayer. He will begin building the 1st of 1889. You were to your word and did this. The amount of £11-00 will be paid by a written note Ngatuere.'. The translation noted: not translated word for word.
