Rare sapphire and diamond brooch, designed as a flowerhead centring a claw-set oval sapphire weighing 7.35 carats, framed by a cluster of similarly set circular-cut diamonds to sculptured petals embellished with variously cut sapphires and diamonds, the small sapphires and diamonds together weighing approximately 13.05 carats and 2.69 carats respectively, mounted in 15ct gold and platinum, length 45 mm. Accompanied by a GSL report numbered AA68443, dated 1 November 2023, stating that the 7.35 carat sapphire is natural, with no indications of heating, of metamorphic - Ceylon type origin. Provenance, Mrs Eugenia Woodward Hitt 1905-1990. Private Collection, Sydney, by descent from the above.
