An early Kerr & Binns Worcester 'Limoges Enamel' decorated cup on foot, dated 1854, the enamelled decoration by Thomas Bott, Snr, the tall bell-shaped bowl on a short circular pedestal foot, the exterior cobalt blue ground with gilt interior, rim, and foot, the front with a gilt-framed circular cartouche finely decorated en brunaille with Leda and the swan, the exterior otherwise decorated in white enamel and gilt details with classical male figures supporting the cartouche and foliage centred on a mask to the reverse, the interior of the rim with a Vitruvian scroll border in matt gold, an underglaze incised inscription underside (faint) 'R W Binns 1854 painted by T Bott', 10.5 cm high. Other notes: dating to the year after Bott joined the Kerr & Binns factory, a very early piece in his oeuvre of 'Limoges enamel' which Kerr & Binns did exhibit at various exhibitions, the fineness of the work and the absence of a factory mark suggests the cup was made for exhibition, perhaps at the 1855 Paris Exposition Universelle.. Condition: condition good, with slight gilt wear
