A large Royal Worcester vase, date cipher for 1883, of baluster shape on a circular foot with knopped stem, a pair an inward-scrolling handles to the shoulders, turquoise ground with gilt handles and mouldings, the front decorated with a scene of a classical couple courting, the reverse with a coastal landscape, printed factory mark underside, 39 cm high. Other notes: Harry Frost, formerly of the Museum of Royal Worcester, has previously suggested Thomas Scott Callowhill as a possible attribution for the decoration..
