A large finely carved early 19th century mere pounamu, fine flat spatulate shaped reducing to an oval butt with carved with six grooves. Countersunk suspension hole. The blade is sharp, intact and translucent. Carved in dark kawakawa variety stone. In superb condition. Length 36 cm.
