A large 18th century mere pounamu, Spatulate shaped blade reducing to a short grip with three grooves carved to the adverse of the butt. Countersunk suspension hole. Carved in Kawakawa variety stone featuring pale inclusions and translucent blade edge. Two small indentations to the blade surface. Length 36.5 cm.
