Le Louvre Collins St Melbourne, a vintage couture dress suit, circa 1960, styled in navy blue and beige wool and silk, together with matching belt, size 10/12. Other Notes: In 1934, Lillian Wightman opened her beautiful clothing salon, Le Louvre, at the 'Paris end of Collins Street', a magical space with huge gold gilt mirrors, leopard skins, and crystal chandeliers. Artists, storytellers and people of interest found their way to 74 Collins Street where Miss Lillian Wightman held court for over 40 years until her daughter Georgina Weir introduced the new phenomenon of European ready-to-wear in the 1970s making designers such as Lagerfeld, Yves Saint Laurent and Georgio Armani available to the discerning fashionistas of Melbourne.
