A fine George III sterling silver oval swing-handled cake basket, 1756 London, with maker's mark for Edward Aldridge the superb oval cake basket with reeded foliate borders, the everted sides pierced with geometric design, the foot pierced with palmettes and scrolls, the cast double scroll handle, with contemporary flat chasing and crest to the centre, marked to the underside.
