A French .950 silver covered sugar basin, Minerva 1 and maker's mark for Claude Doutre Roussel, late 19th century the generous squat form basin of rococo inspiration with a repousse twist body with C-scroll cartouche engraved with initials Ml, with acanthus leaf handles and scrolled attachments, raised on scroll feet, and slightly raised lid with a finely crafted foliate finial; marked to the underside and lid. Weight 580g height 17.5 cm
