A Charles II silver lace-back trefid spoon, 1678 London, with maker's mark for Lawrence Cole with die-struck lace-back decoration to both the reverse of the bowl and front of the stem, a ribbed rattail under the bowl, the trefid end of the spoon with a pronounced 'Ears' design, marked to the underside of the stem. Lawrence Cole was a prolific London specialist spoon maker in the 17th century and was apprentice to John Smith, gaining his freedom in 1667. Weight 39g length 17.5 cm
