New Zealand silver Eleanor Mary Copeland Adkins (1882-1968) paua and greenstone lapel brooch, large panel of paua with greenstone bead on plain bar 9 cm long, applied E Adkins label stamped Stg silver, Adkins immigrated to New Zealand from the UK in 1921 initially settling in Wellington but then moving to the Hawkes bay. Described as an 'art mistress' in immigration records, she practised the skills of book binding and weaving but also appears to have had a keen interest in Art jewellery, advertising as giving lessons in 1925
