A Chinese chrysanthemum painting, by Xie Gongzhan (1885-1940) Republic period (1912-1949), depicting orange and white chrysanthemums against rocks, inscribed to the upper right-hand corner and signed, mounted as a scroll. The painting 136 cm high, 34 cm wide. With scroll mounting 213 cm high, 47 cm wide. Provenance: acquired by British Consul general to china Sir George Sinclair moss (1882-1959), during his official posting to china, and thence by descent. Condition: fold mark in the centre. Some further small crease marks. Paper discoloured. Small area of tearing to the paper in the lower left-hand corner
