Description:
A Chinese painting of horses, attributed to Zhang Mu (1607-1687), dated 5th year of Kangxi, 1666, very finely painted in ink and colours on paper with two horses beneath a weeping willow tree, with inscription and signed at the upper left corner. Mounted as a scroll. The painting 117 cm high, 55 cm wide. The scroll mounting 194 cm high, 70 cm wide. Provenance: acquired by British Consul general to china Sir George Sinclair moss (1882-1959), during his official posting to china, and thence by descent. Condition: significant old repairs, crease marks, discolouration to the paper, small stains.
