A George I figured walnut chest of drawers, 1710s, the quarter-veneered and cross-banded top with moulded edge above two short and three graduated long drawers with cross-banded fronts, on bracket feet, cross-grain mouldings throughout including half-round mouldings to the carcase front, 94 cm high, 98 cm wide, 55 cm deep. Provenance: Woolley and Wallis, antique furniture, Salisbury, 12 May 2009, lot 82. Other Notes: a provincial chest of charm and character, the carcase and drawer linings in a combination of oak, fruitwood, and chestnut. The short drawers retain their original or early concealed locking mechanism.
