A group of four Japanese iron tsuba, Edo period (1603-1868), the first a signed Choshu tsuba by Kawachi Tomotsune featuring a low relief carvings of peonies and rindo (Gentian) flowers on an iron ground, with traces of gilding, the second a maru gata and kaku mimi (square rimmed) tsuba with, deeply carved design of a dragon flying above waves and water, the reverse with clouds and swirling water, attributed to the Choshu group, the third an unsigned Nara style tsuba on an iron ground, round shaped and rimmed with high relief copper and shakudo figure of a monk, the reverse with a staff with various accoutrements also in copper and shakudo, the fourth an unsigned iron ground, maru gata (round shape) tsuba with high relief butterflies, chrysanthemums and leaves in gold, silver and shakudo. 6.5 cm, 7.2 cm, 7 cm, 6.6 cm wide, condition: no visible faults or damage.
