A very good Georgian striking 8-day bracket clock by Benjamin Barber, 1785-1794 period, in a lacquered case with brass handle to inverted bell top basket, pineapple finials, pierced metal panels to the sides and a plinth on brass ball feet, brass dial with gilt-metal spandrels around a silvered Roman numeral chapter ring, an inner date ring and corresponding 3rd hand, with a recessed silvered signature reserve 'Benj. Barber/London', blued steel hands, the strike/silent ring to the arch. The movement with twin line fusees, anchor escapement and strike on bell, the back plate with open foliate engraving, repeated on the fixing brackets. Runs, would benefit from a service. 52 x 28 x 17 cm
