A very rare Len Castle inverted volcano, moulded from earthenware in an inverted volcano form. The exterior has a rough grey texture and pock marks. The interior has a alkaline blue glaze. This rare blue glazed inverted volcano is one of only three made. Castle (1924 - 2011) is one the most recognisable and well versed figures in New Zealand applied arts.
