An impressive pre-European Maori long inanga pounamu hei whao, of long lozenge tapered form and oval cross section, groove to the chisel end, the hourglass suspension hole with narrow section to the top, evidence of old broken hole above. Matt polished, with restrained pale and tan inclusions, length 18.2 cm. Provenance: from a private Nelson estate.
