A rare Maori pounamu (serpentine) rei puta pendant, carved into the form of a whales tooth with curved point and ridged bands. The top with lug form back, hour glass drilled suspension hole. Dark spotted mid pale green-grey tone with tan inclusions, length 11.3 cm. Labelled 'Rei Puta Pelorus Sound'. Provenance: from a private Nelson estate.
