George V gilt sterling silver gem set chalice, hallmarked Dublin, 1932, Lg (Larry Gunning), in the Gothic style in 24ct gold plated sterling silver, the calix featuring six round and six drop shaped amethyst stones amongst Celtic style knot borders, set above a squat globular knop with six protruding bezel set round cut amethysts, on a sloping hexafoil base, finely adorned with four round cut diamonds and a solid opal in the shape of a cross, amongst engraved depictions of the saints and prophets, the foot further adorned with six large oval cut amethysts, each flanked by two round cut red garnets (twelve total), the whole totalling twenty four amethysts, twelve red garnets, four diamonds and one solid opal, height 27 cm, foot diameter 16 cm, with fitted felt lined timber case and storage sleeve, together with W.J Sanders valuation and receipt of restoration/polish dated 2005
