An important and fine quality Chozan signed Japanese Meiji period satsuma vase set on an ivory ground with superb gilding and finely detailed hand painted panels depicting traditional figures in landscapes, geometric painted & gilded borders signed on base with character mark for Chozan (Student of Ryozan). This vase features and pictured in the best Satsuma book by Tom Kiernan page 72 & 73 circa 1880. Height 21 cm, width 12 cm
