A Russian Orthodox icon of Saint Nicholas and Christ, 19th century., in tempera colours, gilt and gesso upon wood panel, the painted icon with Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker holding the scripture, standing beside the Christ as Salvator Mundi holding the 'Globus cruciger' orb, each delivering a blessing with the right hand, the Virgin and child in mandorla above, all against an ornate gilded ground and border, the panel with inserted battens to the top and bottom.
