A George II silver tea kettle, maker's mark of Thomas Tearle, London 1741, of compressed bullet outline chased and engraved around the flush hinged cover with rocaille, bearded masks and flower swags above a coat of arms, the scrolled swing handle with cane binding, the stand on three scrolled cabriole legs terminating in shell feet, with engraved inscription to underside of base 'The gift of Row'd. Wynne of Glanravon Esq'r to his niece Mary Williams. Wife of W'm Williams of Quirt Esq'r.', overall height 35 cm, total weight 1,881g. Provenance: The Estate of L J J Crofton, Canberra. Other notes: the wife's arms are those Williams of Bodelwyddan and the husband's arms are likely Owen, quartering another, possibly Corbett, quartering Wynn and Williams.
