1917 Carlton membership season ticket (#155), deep blue buckram cover with gilt club name and year; the interior surfaces with printed details of the club leadership, the fixtures for the club and a hole punched for each game attended, overall 9.2 x 12.5 cm when opened out. The card is made out to club member D. Ryan. Played during the latter stages of World War I, only six of the league's nine senior clubs competed, with Geelong and South Melbourne returning after being in recess the previous year. The season ran from 12 May until 22 September, and comprised a 15-game home-and-away season followed by a finals series featuring the top four clubs. Carlton finished in 2nd place on the ladder, but not reach the Grand Final which was won by Collingwood, who defeated Fitzroy.
