18th century English Japanned longcase clock, by Charles Pingstone of London, with engraved brass dial decorated with birds and foliage above a central date aperture window and subsidiary seconds dial, set within a silver chapter ring engraved with Roman numerals, bordered by pierced brass spandrels depicting cherubs holding aloft coronets, the case in green lacquer with gilt and polychrome paint work, depicting robed figures at leisure in court garden scenes amongst temples and blossoming branches, with inset circular lenticle window, the hood of architectural form with column supports, decorated with gilt foliate borders, surmounted with three stepped spherical finials, together with two weights, pendulum and key, 259 cm x 49 cm x 26 cm
