Chippendale rococo style water gilded mirror, England, c. 1850, an elaborate gilded frame comprising 16 mirror plates, carved throughout with foliage, garlands, shells and c-scrolls, surmounted by a central cartouche flanked by finely carved ho-ho birds, the centre with a squirrel on each side eating nuts on plinths, original water gilded surface on grey bole, gilt on pine or lime, minor repairs to some extremities, height 254 cm, width 130 cm, reference: Purchased by Rueben Nicklin (b. England 1842) for his residence 'Hatherton', in Coorparoo, QLD, thence by decent to the Honourable A.J.
