Rene Lalique Berger Lampe 'Artichaut', 'Lampe Hygienique Berger'. This system, designed by Lampe Berger Paris in 1890, uses a catalytic burner that heats to burn an alcohol and essential oil mixture. The heated alcohol and essential oils are released into the air and eliminate odor while diffusing scent at the same time. Although designed in the late 19th century, the parts and the oil mixture are available to this day. Rene Lalique produced several designs, the most popular being the 'Artichoke,' this example in frosted glass, c. 1920. Rarely seen in complete working form. Moulded 'R. Lalique' signature.
