A sterling silver presentation porringer with grotesque dragon handles in the 17th century manner, William Comyns & Sons, London 1893, with gadroons and embossed and prick worked borders in the William and Mary style, inscribed below the lip: 'presented to Captain R.G Murray R.N.R by passenger friends, Britannia, Aug. 93.' hallmarked underside and with retailer's stamp for Goldsmith & Silversmiths Company, London, 8.5 cm high, 10.5 cm bowl width, 255gms. Other Notes: Shipping news from the South Australian Register, 11 July 1893, records the departure of the steamer Britannia on its voyage from Port Adelaide to London under the command of Captain R. G. Murray
